'Architecture in site and
age' The architectural periodical Alaprajz arranges his spring International Convention of Architecture on March 7. 2009 for the sixth time. Famous international architects, interesting discussions - the most important architectural event in Hungary. Architectcongress – for the six time The architectural
periodical Alaprajz and the Association of Hungarian Architects (AHA) have
arranged the spring International Convention of Architecture on March 7. 2009
for the sixth time. 640 architects have registered on the congress. The venue
was at Budapest XII. Csörsz Street Sportmax 2 Hall. The theme was: „New
challenges and technologies in architecture”. The credtit crunch set up new
challenges before architecture. The digital and parametric design opens new
perspectives of architecture. Four invited foreign architects have presented own
projects with high-class projection: Jo Noero (Cape Town), Hani Rashid (New
York), Andrija Rusan (Zagreb), Rudy Ricciotti (Bandol, France). Ernő Kálmán DLA,
president of AHA and of the congress has reported, that AHA has arranged
parallel with the congress the president conference of II. Region of UIA. Gábor
Zoboki has documented energy-saving buildings, town-centre of Budapest and
possibility of breaking to the Chinese market. The leaders of UIA have attend
the congress: Louise Cox president (Australia), Gaetan Siew previous president
(Mauritius), Albert Duber vicepresident of the I. Region of UIA, and Lisa Siola
(Greece) vicepresident of II. Region of UIA. Pál Csanády Editor-in-Chief has
conducted discussion with them about the topic: „Globalization and architecture”.
Gábor Turányi has aquainted the design-history of the venue Sporthall. The
coverage was designed with new software, and was constructed from varying
cross-section, irregularly division sign hinged longitudinal beam. The
brokenshell form roof was builted with copperplate covering. László Maczelka (Materv
firm) has projected picture-rows about phases of the building. In the Hall were
shows of the sponsor building industry productmanufacturers. The participants
have holded: the congress was useful and successful. Finally a group of
inquirers have visited the building with guide of architect László Maczelka.
